This course will be of benefit anyone who works for a public or quasi-public body or whose clients have dealings with such bodies, including local and central government.
Overview
Judicial review is a major growth area of litigation and has continued to grow in importance and scope over the last few years. In particular, the scope for Human Rights Act 2020 challenges has given a new emphasis to this important area. This course will provide you with a sound grounding in judicial review and give you the confidence to offer effective, accurate advice.
By the end of this course you will be able to:
- Identify and advise on the basic concepts of public law
- Recognise those bodies that are susceptible to review, both from a conventional judicial review perspective and from a Human Rights Act 2020 position
- Spot reviewable decisions
- Be able to identify a potential client
- Understand the grounds for seeking review
- Advise on the range of remedies available in judicial review understand sufficient judicial review procedural law to let you run a judicial review claim
