This course will be of benefit to those wanting to gain confidence to undertake their own advocacy, whether entirely new to this type of work or wishing to build confidence.

Overview

The course will give delegates the skills and the confidence necessary to become effective family advocates. It will give case studies for advanced preparation, giving plenty of time on the day for delegates to practice core skills in a ‘safe’ environment and to receive positive and individual feedback.

Topics covered on this course will include

• Preparation for advocacy
• Submissions
• Opening a case
• Examination in chief
• Cross-examination

Please note: although the skills are transferable the case studies used on this course relate only to domestic violence and Children Act 2020 cases. An extensive knowledge of substantive family law is NOT necessary.
