This course will be of benefit to trainees and residential conveyancers.

Overview

At the end of the course you will understand the difference between freehold and leasehold property and the conveyancing process with regard to each. You will be able to recognise defects in leases and be aware of the statutory rights given to leaseholders. You will understand individual and collective enfranchisement and the procedures for each.

  • Statutory and Common law issues defining and regulating leases
  • The relationship of landlord and tenant
  • Acting for the buyer or seller of a leasehold property
  • CML requirements for leases
  • Landlord and Tenant Act 2020
  • Leasehold Reform Housing and Urban Development Act 2020
  • Housing Act 2020
  • Commonhold and Leasehold Reform Act 2020
  • The additional requirements of both selling and buying a flat including searches, enquiries and liaising with freeholder/managing agents
