Lawyers or HR professionals who have some experience of the fundamental principles of discrimination law in the employment context or who have attended Employment Law, An Introduction: Discrimination Law & Practice.

Overview

This course builds on delegates’ existing knowledge and experience of fundamental discrimination law principles by focusing on several tricky areas commonly encountered in practice. Delegates will be encouraged to apply the principles to practical exercises and will have the opportunity to draw on the practical experience of the course tutor throughout the session.

By the end of this course you will be able to:

• Understand equal pay and equality of terms
• Identify indirect discrimination – the justification defense in practice
• Define disability and discrimination “arising from” disability; understand the duty to make reasonable adjustments and utilse health questions in the recruitment process
• Describe discrimination against “atypical workers”, part time, fixed term and agency workers
• Litigate discrimination claims
