This course will be of benefit to those of you new to this area of practice, or needing to refresh your knowledge.

Overview

The course will use a significant case study from the presenter's actual experience as an example, and step-by-step guides for preparation and presentation will be provided for use in the office afterwards. Although suggested solutions will be provided, delegates will be encouraged to come up with their own solutions.

By the end of this course you will be able to:

  • Explain the law and practice on emergency protection orders,
  • Understand the difference between Care Orders and Supervision Orders, as well as effective drafting of court documents
  • Describe the role and significance of assessments and experts in public law proceedings.
  • Understand Threshold documents
  • Understand the law and practice on Adoption and Placement
  • Demonstrate confidence with drafting case summaries, chronologies and statement of issues
  • Understand the effective running of cases under the Public law Outline
