Delegates
This course will prove useful to those new to the charities sector or existing employees looking for an insight into the new regime. Auditors of charities would also benefit from attending.
Background
For accounting periods starting after 1 January 2020 the UK’s accounting framework will undergo the biggest change for a generation, and the not for profit sector are not exempt from those changes, with new accounting standards and not one, but two new SORPs.
Course Content
Successive versions of the Charities SORP have set out how a charity should report annually on resources entrusted to it and the activities it undertakes. The revised version of the SORP applicable from 2020 further hones charity reporting, but also reflects the new principles as UK GAAP further converges with its international counterpart.
This course provides an introduction to charity accounting and the principles of the existing and forthcoming Charities SORP.
Learning outcomes include obtaining a greater understanding of:
- The contents of the Charities SORP
- The presentation of the trustees’ annual report
- The statement of financial activities
- How to analyse support costs
- The Charities Act 2020 overview
"A CPD certificate of completion will be provided by BPP Professional Education Limited upon request, following attendance."
